A Summer Deadline, A High-Stakes Rewire
When the call came in from Sonny’s Bar in Kingston, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a standard job.
With an ambitious opening schedule and other contractors unable to deliver in time for peak summer trading season, or find a team capable of rewiring the entire premises, installing kitchen and bar supply systems, designing outdoor lighting, and completing a full CCTV/security overhaul — all in under a week.
We stepped in.
Scope of Emergency Works
With just six days before the bar’s planned summer reopening, we mobilised quickly. Our team assessed, planned, and executed a full electrical overhaul, covering:
- Complete electrical rewire
- Kitchen & bar power supplies (regulation compliant)
- Outdoor heating & lighting systems
- Emergency lighting upgrades
- CCTV installation with full networking
- Compliance documentation for local licensing approval
DAY-BY-DAY TIMELINE
Day 1 – Strip Out & Survey
- Immediate site survey
- Isolated all unsafe circuits
- Stripped existing non-compliant wiring
- Drafted new circuit layouts overnight
Day 2–3 – Rewire & Distribution
- Installed new cabling throughout bar, kitchen, cellar, and outdoor areas
- New RCBO boards and submains fitted
- Containment installed and labelled
Day 4 – Kitchen, Bar & Power
- Connected and tested dedicated supplies for:
- Ovens, refrigeration, glass washers, coffee machines
- Installed IP-rated isolators and switched spurs
Day 5 – Outdoor & Decorative Lighting
- Designed and installed festoon lighting, wall washers, and uplighters
- Installed outdoor infrared heating (with timers and thermostats)
- Set up dusk-to-dawn controls and override options
Day 6 – Security & Compliance
- Deployed and tested 13-camera HD IP CCTV system, networked to central NVR
- Emergency lighting and illuminated exit signs installed and tested
- Final fix and commissioning
- Full testing & NICEIC certification ready for submission
